Earn your pharmacy degree in just six years! Through 91茄子's pre-pharmacy pathway, you'll spend two years completing foundational undergraduate coursework and preparing for the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy's four-year PharmD curriculum.

With our innovative Pharmacy Readiness & Exploration Program (PREP), you'll have opportunities to explore pharmacy, develop professional skills, and connect with pharmacy faculty and advisors who will support you throughout your journey. What Will You Learn as a Pre-Pharmacy Student?

Build crucial foundational knowledge in areas including science (biology, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, organic chemistry), math (pre-calculus and statistics) and communications.

Pharmacy Readiness & Exploration Program (PREP)

An innovative, more supportive pathway to pharmacy

What is PREP?

PREP is designed to strengthen student success while maintaining the academic rigor and professional expectations required of future pharmacists.

PREP uniquely integrates pharmacy exploration and professional development into your first two years of undergraduate study. You'll combine foundational coursework with intentional pharmacy development experiences. In PREP, you'll build your professional identity, communication, leadership, study, and PharmD readiness skills while developing the knowledge and foundation needed for success in school and beyond.

Who Can Participate?

PREP will launch with the Fall 2027 entering class and be incorporated in pre-pharmacy guaranteed seat program along with pre-pharmacy studies.

What's New?

Stress less about the admissions process.

The admissions process has been streamlined to reduce barriers while preserving the high standards expected of future pharmacists.

Key changes to the admissions process:

Elimination of the separate pharmacy letters of recommendation requirement.
Relocation of the formal admissions interview from the high school application process to the sophomore year. This interview is termed "The Readiness Interview" as students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the first and sophomore year initiatives through a readiness competency interview.
Increased opportunities for students to engage with pharmacy faculty, advisors, and current student pharmacists.
A structured professional development curriculum extending throughout the first two undergraduate years.
No pharmacy-specific essay needed at the time of application, students will now complete a personal statement in their sophomore year.

PREP is intentionally designed to engaged students from their first year, helping foster stronger mentoring relationships and more structured professional development opportunities. By increasing students' exposure to the pharmacy profession, PREP helps better equip students for success both as students and as pharmacutical professionals.

The Readiness Interview

The Nesbitt School of Pharmacy has reenvisioned the interview process. Instead of a generalized step in the admissions process, the interview is now a personalized chance for students to showcase the growth they have achieved in our program. Students will demonstrate communication skills, professionalism, and readiness to enter the PharmD program after engaging in structured programming and professional experiences.

PREP provides more intentional, pharmacy-focused programming beginning in the first year. This enhanced approach allows students to explore the profession more deeply while strengthening the knowledge, confidence, and professional skills needed for success.
